Furled Tapered Leaders
You are about to elevate your fly fishing experience to a new level.
BlueSky furled tapered leaders are hand-woven from over 90 feet (27m) of premium nylon. They are intended for serious fly fishers who want to improve their casting, presentation and success.
Our standard leaders are 5 feet 9 inches (1.75m) long. The StillWater Leaders are 8 ft. 4 in. long. To this leader, you add a tippet of appropriate length and strength. Don't be afraid to experiment with long tippets. BlueSky Furled Leaders can turn over very long tippets.
Each leader is individually hand woven, furled and twinned into a beautiful taper. All our leaders attach using the no knot loop-to-loop method. This means you can quickly switch to another BlueSky leader in seconds.
Twelve styles and sizes:
- UltraLight for 0 to 3 wt. fly line
- Light for 3 to 5 wt. fly line
- Light StillWater for 3 to 5 wt. fly line
- Medium for 6 to 8 wt. fly line
- Medium StillWater for 6 to 8 wt. fly line
- Heavy for 7 wt. and heavier line, and for big bass bugs and saltwater flies
- Spey leader for 7 wt. and higher fly lines (9 ft. 10 in. long)
- BlueSky-Ti furled leader with Titanium Bite Tippet
- Six-Plus Saltwater Furled Leaders with Flurocarbon tippets (available in 4 tippet strengths)
We are sure you will be pleased with its superior casting performance and delicate presentation not possible with ordinary tapered "mono" or braided leaders.
After you unwrap your leader try this experiment. Hold the leader at the butt end and cast it. Yes, it casts by itself. Even though it is very delicate, the leader will turn over very nicely, much like a tapered fly line Try that with a tapered mono leader! Just imagine how improved your casting will be out on the stream or lake!

StillWater Furled Tapered Leaders
- Many of our customers have asked us to develop a longer leader for use in what we refer to as "stillwater" conditions. These are conditions where extreme stealth and distance casting is required. While our current 5 ft. 9 in. leader performs all these tasks very well, we decided to research this new leader further.
Now after over a year of testing various nylon monofilament, taper formulae and lengths, we have created a longer leader that offers outstanding distance as well as delicate presentation. It's been thoroughly field tested and ready to go. It's available in two sizes - Light for 3 - 5wt and Medium for 6 - 8 wt. Designed to create a 12 - 20 foot leaders for situations that demand a long leader/tippet.

BriteSpot
Strike Indicator Leaders
You have seen many types of strike detectors, from sticky paper disks to gooey putty. Most fall off or don't work very well. Our BriteSpot Leader works really well! Just attach this leader loop-to-loop to your fly line. Then tie on a piece of tippet just behind the strike indicator (See diagram) using an improved clinch knot. This detector rides high and allows the tippet and fly to sink down to where the fish are! Just change tippet length as water depth and conditions change.
The BriteSpot leader is an innovative and different approach to traditional nymph fishing techniques. For the beginner, it offers the easiest and fastest way to learn nymph fishing and catch fish doing it. For the experienced fly fisher, it offers another proven method for successfully fishing the nymph.
BriteSpot leaders are tapered so they cast nicely. Apply a good floatant before use and as needed.

Mesh Leader Wallet - We consider this product a "working vest" wallet while fishing (as opposed to a storage system for all your leaders). It is very practical and easy to use and is not cumbersome. This mesh wallet has seven interior pockets for storing a bunch of leaders (in their zip-lock bags if you wish). The very rugged mesh fabric throughout will dry fast no matter how good of a dunking the user can give it. It is about 25% smaller than some wallets due to its crescent shape. Nylon zipper closure.
